These regulations are for the overall success and development of the Market which is dependent
on honesty, integrity and interest of its members. 

The Market is located in the Russell Community Centre in Doolin.
A large indoor area with associated amenities e.g. toilets, hand washing facilities, etc.



Aims of the Doolin Saturday Market and Craft Fair

  • Provide a place for local small producers to sell hand-produced goods on a weekly basis,
     including crafts, produce, and artisan food products.
  • Promote traditional and hand-made craft locally.
  • Provide a source of fresh produce and food products in Doolin, which is not currently
    served by a supermarket or other major food market.
  • Encourage community interaction by providing an enjoyable daytime activity in a pleasant atmosphere for
    local people and visitors alike.

  • Assess applications from potential stallholders in relation to individual merit, compliance
    with Market regulations and ethos, the needs of the local community, and the overall goals
    of the Market.
  • Liaise with Doolin Market members to discuss new applications once the market is running.
  • Allocate space in consultation with the other stallholders and in the interests of variety and
    good layout.
  • Promoting the Market.
  • Actively encourage members in discussing thoughts and ideas to promote the continued
    success of the market.

Obligations of Stallholders

The Doolin Saturday Market and Craft Fair will encourage the production and sale of locally produced goods and goods of local interest.  The Committee will make decisions on what products may be sold at the Market in accordance with certain principles and priorities.

  • The majority of products should be made, crafted, grown, raised, caught, baked or processed locally, and should be of a high quality. 

  • Non-local products will be allowed only where necessary in the interests of providing greater variety of high quality goods and at the recommendation of the Market. Priority will be given to small producers with limited alternative local markets.

  • Stall sharing is permitted; please discuss requirements with a committee member.
  • Stallholders must be approved by the Committee. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw permission.
  • Stallholders must agree to the rules and regulations of the market and be in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Stall holders can only sell what is on their application forms. If you wish to sell another item it must be discussed with the committee.
  • One weeks’ notice is required if you are going to be absent. In the event of illness please let us know asap so we can get a replacement. 
  • Stallholders must stay until the agreed finishing time (4 p.m.). In exceptional circumstances, stallholders may leave earlier than 4 p.m if this is agreed in advance by the Committee.
  • Stalls must be completely cleared by 4.30 p.m. Stallholders will be obliged to take part in our new cleanup lotto!
  • Stallholders are required to make provisions for their own display stalls and units: tablecloth, signs, price tags, bags for produce and litter, scales, table, and any other necessary items.
  • We recommend that all stallholders producing food from their own kitchens comply with the regulations in “Hygiene for Domestic-Scale Food Production” (I.S. 344: 2002) produced by National Standards Authority of Ireland  (contact 01 857 6730 or info@standards.ie)
  • Stall holders should register with the appropriate authority if required for the range of products they carry.
  • Under government regulations only producers with certification from a recognized organic body are allowed to display “organic” signs on their produce.
  • Product liability insurance is recommended and is the responsibility of stallholders.  Those who choose not to purchase product liability insurance do so at their own risk.
  • Stalls must be set up by 15 minutes prior to the opening of the Market. Latecomers will have to wear the silly latecomer’s hat all day and pose for a photo for The North Clare Local!
  • Stall fee’s: 1table €15,  2 tables €20,  1˝ tables €17.50
